Helen and Holmsey at the ‘Pro Football Hall of Fame’ in Canton, Ohio
Happy Holidays to all our friends and family. 2015 has been another incredibly fun and adventurous year for us. During 2015, we took some more trips to some neat places, and attended various autograph/nostalgia conventions.
Starting off in January, Helen and I are now on the internet radio station ‘Radio Once More’ every Wednesday. We now also host the ‘Holmsey Hall of Fame’ every other Wednesday, which is a variety pack of assorted ‘Old Time Radio’ shows. With this new show, along with our ongoing ‘At Home with Holmsey’ and our ‘Daily Grind’ Recapitulation Presentations, we are now on every Wednesday, so feel free to tune in to www.RadioOnceMore.com on Wednesday evenings 9PM (eastern) for some ‘Woo-Hoo Holmsey Fun’. By the way, more on our ‘Daily Grind’ events later. Also, Helen and I have decided to retire from our ‘Color Runs’ (for now!!), but we have participated in a variety of painting parties and have enjoyed dabbling with art on occasion.

In February (despite Helen & I having slips on ice) we celebrated Helen`s Birthday in Lititz, PA for a weekend where we enjoyed a Murder-Mystery Dinner at the Mount Hope Estate. We also toured the Sturgis Pretzel Factory and Wilbur Chocolates Facility, and we enjoyed meals at Miller’s and Shady Maple Smorgasbord Restaurants. In March we again attended the ‘Monstermania Convention` where Helen was thrilled to meet some American Horror Story celebrities, and we also met Judge Reinhold, and William Sanderson. Also in March, The Mount Holly Police Department and the Township of Mount Holly held a very touching 40th Anniversary Memorial March in remembrance of the 1975 ‘Good Friday Sniper Incident‘ where 2 brave Police Officers were killed, and my Father was critically wounded and left paralyzed for the rest of his life until he passed in 1992. The MHPD did a wonderful job and was very kind and respectful to our entire family. The Holmes Family would like to again, thank the Township of Mount Holly and the Mount Holly Police Department for this touching and memorable tribute to these three brave Police Officers. March was also the 5th Anniversay of the ‘Holmsey Blog’. Occasionally, I’ll post an article and photos about events/trips, promote our ‘Daily Grind’ events, and I post past interviews we’ve done on our ‘Woo-Hoo Wednesday’ Radio Shows. We are now over 5,000 hits on the ‘Holmsey Blog’!!!! Feel free to visit the ‘Holmsey Blog’ at https://JHolmsey.wordpress.com/.

April brought us to the ‘Amazicon Convention’ where we met celebrities Gil Gerard, Marta Kristen, and Parker Stevenson. The first ‘Chiller Theater Convention` of the year was also in April where we met many celebrities including, the ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ cast, Anson Williams & Donny Most from Happy Days, and the legendary Ann Margaret, among others. In May, Helen & I attended the final Three Stooges Fan Club Meeting, but the good news is a full blown “Three Stooges Convention” is in the works for April Fools Day Weekend in 2016. Also in May, Helen and I attended for our first time, the Cinevent Classic Film Convention in Columbus, Ohio. We got to see many friends and we enjoyed many classic films. Also, while in Ohio, we visited friends in Akron, and we toured the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. We already mentioned our internet radio show on ‘Radio Once More’, Helen and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary of “At Home with Holmsey” – “Woo-Hoo Wednesday” show in June. We had many callers congratulating us and we also had special ‘Give-a-ways’ to our listeners!!!

Helen & I took another Starr Tour in July, where we toured Annapolis, Maryland. We toured some of the US Naval Academy and while we were there, Helen was thrilled to see the Chapel where her parents were married back in the 1950’s after Helen’s Father graduated from the Naval Academy. We also had the opportunity to tour and visit the Maryland State Capitol Building, which is the oldest capitol building still being used in the country. In August, we attended our second ‘Monstermania Convention’ of the year where we met George Wendt from ‘Cheers’ and the legendary Malcolm McDowell. Also in August, Helen and I enjoyed an extended getaway weekend to Wildwood. This was the first trip to Wildwood for us in 8 years. We enjoyed walking the boardwalk, sampling Pizza, and having a relaxing weekend.

Also in September we attended the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention in Hunt Valley, MD and had a great time seeing old friends and meeting celebrities including the ‘Bionic Reunion’ with Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner, and we also met Tina Cole, from the ‘King Family’ and ‘My Three Sons’. In October we visited the ‘Rod Serling’ archive in Binghamton, New York and got to see many neat props used in ‘Twilight Zone’ episodes and other Rod Serling related memorabilia. Also in October we attended a family wedding in Metropolis, Illinois. (Congratulations Kristen and Justin!!!) We attended our 2nd ‘Chiller Theater Convention` of the year in October where there was both a ‘Batman’ and a ‘Lost In Space’ mini reunion.

Helen and I took a trip to New England in November, where we toured Vermont and New Hampshire. While there we saw 2 state capitols, 2 Presidential homes, 2 Presidential resting places, and 2 art museums. Helen and I really enjoy New England and perhaps this could become home for us during retirement, we’ll see!!! We mentioned our ‘Daily Grind’ “An Evening of Old Time Radio” events, well Helen and I have been volunteering since 2012 at the ‘Daily Grind Coffee Shop’ where every other month, we put on an Old Time Radio presentation. In December we completed our 20th presentation at the ‘Daily Grind’. Helen and I are honored and proud to be part of the ‘Daily Grind’ family and to support the ‘Daily Grind’, downtown Mount Holly, and Old Time Radio. Helen and I were proud to announce the completion of our basement renovation in December. We look forward to watching many films, playing board games, and having some exciting Ping-Pong matches in our newly completed ‘Fun Room’!!!!
