Radio Once More-At Home with Holmsey-Christmas (2)

Recently, I again had the honor and pleasure to chat with author and Christmas TV specials expert, the delightful Joanna Wilson on our ‘Woo-Hoo Wednesday’ Radio Show ‘At Home with Holmsey’ on the internet radio station, “Radio Once More”.  Joanna and I chatted about her new book project that was recently released entitled, “The Story of Archie the Talking Snowman & Akron’s History of Christmas Attractions”. This book is available from the publisher at:

We also discussed many classic TV Christmas episodes from some great series including ‘The Flintstones’, ‘Dragnet’, and ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’. Joanna and I (again!!!!) shared our disappointment that the 1973 Made for TV version of ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ has not been released to DVD yet, however we agreed that Christmas miracles do happen and hopefully this wonderful adaptation will eventually be released onto DVD for all of us to enjoy. In the meantime, it is available to view in its entirety on You Tube.

We also played audio clips and discussed, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, and in celebration of its 50th anniversary, we ended our wonderful discussion with A Charlie Brown Christmas. All of these titles and so much more are all covered in Joanna’s book, Tis the Season TV: The Encyclopedia of Christmas-Themed Episodes, Specials and Made-For-TV Movies.  This book is hands down the best book out about Christmas TV Shows & Specials.  This tremendous volume is close to 800 pages and covers virtually everything Christmas that’s been on Television.  You can purchase this wonderful book and read many of Joanna’s blog entries at

Below I have posted our discussion that we aired on December 9th on ‘Radio Once More’.  Thanks again to Joanna Wilson for taking the time to chat with us!!!!  Enjoy!!!!!!
