A few items from the Holmsey ‘Batman’ collection
Last week was the 50th Anniversary of the Television premiere of one of my favorite TV series……..’Batman’. I don’t remember the series first run on ABC since it premiered in 1966 and I was born in 1964. However, I sure do remember it and loved watching the series in reruns on Channel 29 in Philly and many other cable channels over the years. Last year was a memorable year when the entire series was finally released on DVD and Blu-ray.

Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to meet various members of the cast over the years. My first encounter with ‘Batman’ himself was in the 1980’s while I was attending ‘Rider College‘ and Adam West appeared on stage and talked about the wonderful series and answered questions from the audience.

Helen and I were fortunate enough to meet Adam West many more times over the years at various conventions along with some other ‘Batman’ cast members including, Burt Ward (Robin), Julie Newmar (Catwoman), Frank Gorshin (Riddler), and Malachi Throne (False Face).

Last year I had the opportunity and privilege to chat with author and ‘Batman’ expert Joel Eisner. Below is the entire ‘Batman’ conversation I had with Joel on the internet radio station “Radio Once More”.

Last October at the ‘Chiller Theatre Expo’, Helen and I had the opportunity to attend a mini Batman reunion with Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar!!!!! What a thrill it was.
This wonderful show will no doubt continue to entertain Bat-fans for generations to come with it’s unique campiness, colorful sets, Hollywood guest stars, and as Adam West put it….the superb, “Theater of the absurd”.
We’ll catch you next time…..same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel!!!!!!
